While most centers only conduct traditional assessments which often lead to generic intervention programs, Branches of Hope is leading the state in the use of more advanced methods to pinpoint a child's pivotal needs and learning style in order to properly infuse the most effective intervention components.

Ecological Learning Analysis
An Ecological Learning Assessment addresses the question of how does your child learns
and what factors influence learning of academic, social, communication, and inclusion
skills. Conducting an ELA can significantly turn-around a program by ensuring a child’s
learning style is being considered and by having a proper match between learning style
and supports.

COMPASS: Comprehensive Assessment & Service Model
Is a diagnostic and treatment process to develop a global picture of your child’s functioning in
different environments and situations.
COMPASS provides a big picture perspective from which the team can determine not only “what
to teach” but also how to match a child’s unique learning style with a multi-component
intervention program. By establishing the family’s long-term vision and uniting it with a systematic
plan to meet today’s needs, a family has a road map for moving forward with services to support
learning, sensory integration, cognition, speech and language, and behavioral development.
Comprehensive Individualized Pivotal Skills - Matrix
(CIPS - Matrix)
The CIPS—Matrix process was developed to help a team promote logical Inclusion. It
serves as a daily guide to connect all program components in a realistic and practical
manner. It allows the team to choose and integrate effective & diverse strategies as
needed while bridging the IEP with core curriculum to effectively use daily teachable
moments.
PATH - Planning Alternative Tomorrow with Hope
The PATH allows a team to build a "road map" from "today's needs" to "tomorrow's
dream". Parents and professionals collaborate on carefully identifying goals and
milestones while delineating needed resources. Ultimately, the PATH process helps to
ensure the team has a shared collaborative vision.
Intervention Service Model - Pivotal Skills Teaching
Following the Assessment, a Pivotal Skills Teaching program is developed and implement
professionals in their efforts. We are the first in Connecticut and the East Coast to offer a
systematic method for pinpointing a child's pivotal needs (ELA), integrating the results within
the inclusion setting using the CIPS-Matrix, while developing a road map for the future. This
compressive approach allows our team to successfully target your child's pivotal needs.
“At the age of 3 years, my child was becoming prompt dependent and rigid . After the ELA, we switched to using Pivotal Response Teaching and now he is becoming independent for Preschool.”
