Branches of Hope is a community based nonprofit organization founded by experts with a long track record of success in developing highly effective ABA based programs with an emphasis on Pivotal Response Teaching.
Unlike older versions of ABA, PRT has been shown to truly impact “pivotal” areas that can have a far reaching impact on a child. PRT is not only a better way to teach a child; but it can directly improve how your child learns. PRT dramatically improves both academic and social inclusion.
While other centers have begun to use PRT, we have been leaders in its development. While at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Burke published seminal papers on Pivotal Response Teaching that has significantly shaped how ABA is applied to students with autism today and we serve in a leadership capacity in this region of the United States for preparing future BCBAs in this approach and for disseminating PRT based strategies through state-wide workshops.
We are a Center where parents, professionals, and administrators receive very personalized attention to address their complex needs. We have decades of experience providing ongoing support to families, schools and communities who serve these children. Based upon research initiated while Dr. Burke was at Johns Hopkins University, we now have a proprietary process called COMPASS© that is used to build and implement very individualized and highly effective programs designed around the learning profile of the child. By identifying your child’s unique learning style and associated characteristics, a more effective program can be developed.
From a parent’s perspective, Branches of Hope can begin to translate a “general diagnosis” into an action plan. Given the great variability in children who may have the same diagnosis it is vital for them to participate in treatment and educational programs that are based on their unique learning profiles. We help parents sort through the many treatment options and we offer a range of family services.
We work with schools in the design and implementation of highly effective programs that are individualized not only for the child but also for the family and team of educators. We emphasize researched based strategies while implementing Positive Behavioral Support Interventions (PBSI). We bring to your child’s team over 45 years of combined experience in providing specialized training. We aim to work in collaboration with other professionals and agencies that serve our families.

We Help Families to Obtain Insurance Reimbursement for our Services
Branches of Hope is proud of our ongoing commitment to help families with insurance reimbursement. We have educated ourselves about the new insurance laws in CT that take effect January 1, 2010 and we are dedicated to providing necessary codes and intervention specifications to increase the likelihood of reimbursement. |
