Child * Family * Community

An Ecological Learning Assessment can be implemented with children of any age and can significantly help a team to systematically choose strategies from the myriad of those reported in the literature based on how the child learns.

For instance, if an Ecological Learning Assessment shows that a child is at risk of being prompt dependent, hooking into structured teaching formats, and failing to generalize to less structured settings, a recommendation may pertain to the use of an Advanced ABA Strategy such as Pivotal Response Teaching to help facilitate wide spread gains.

Recommendations are made with specific and practical strategies along with areas to be targeted. While older and more traditional assessments produce scores and show areas of weaknesses, an ELA provides families and professionals valuable information in regards to:

· The child’s learning profile and major factors that influence both acquisition and generalization

· Recommended pivotal behaviors and skills to be targeted

· Specific and practical strategies, supports and a plan for implementation
